Committed to Comfort

In total we can accommodate a maximum of 21 people in our 7 units. All our chalets are in a very private setting with fireplace (except the Low Budget / Guides Cabin), patio or garden, braai facilities and ensuite bathroom. All linen and towels are supplied and the chalets are serviced daily. In addition we do a traditional German (continental) breakfast on request which is served in our separate breakfast room.

Honeymoon Chalet

Our spacious, open plan honeymoon chalet sleeps two people (of course) and has a beautiful view over our dam. This tastefully decorated chalet is perfect for a romantic getaway and offers you the comfort of a huge king size bed and a fully equipped kitchen with bar fridge and mini-stove. Zur Alten Mine Breakfast

We offer an authentic German continental breakfast upon request in our sunny breakfast room. Our breakfast  includes a variety of delicatessens including cold meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals and breads baked fresh every day. We also offer eggs to order. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are on offer as well as fresh fruit juice for those wanting something cool to drink. The cost of our delicious breakfast is R90.00 per person and a minimum notice period of 24hours is required prior to bookings.

Family Cottage

Our family cottage can sleep up to 5 people. It has two bedrooms; one with a double bed, the other one is upstairs and has three single beds. There is a spacious lounge with a combustion fireplace and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a compact stove and a 340l fridge / freezer.

Guides Cabin

Our Guides Cabin is situated at the entrance of our property and can sleep a maximum of two people. It consists of a bedroom with a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom with a shower. The unit has a private kitchen with a picnic style table and bench next to the unit that can be closed off during colder nights. The Guides Cabin is ideal for a guide/driver or people traveling on a low budget just looking for a comfortable bed, a clean bathroom and basic self-catering facilities.

Things to do whilst visiting Zur Alten Mine

There are countless activities available to guests in the area. You can explore the Mpumalanga escarpment and experience the breathtaking views of a number of natures wonders, including God's Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes and Pinnacle Rock. Pilgrams Rest, an old mining town and well-known South African Heritage Site is a mere 10km away. The Kruger National Park's Phabeni Gate is about 50km away, where you can go on Game Drive's and see the Big Five amongst other South African wildlife. If leisurely walks and game drives are not quiet your speed, why not up the ante and go bungy jumping or zip-lining over the famous Graskop Gorge.
